SEPTEMBER 2006

Oh, là, là!
It's time for the annual Beaujolais Nouveau Celebration!

Come celebrate the arrival of the very first wine made from the 2006 harvest with the Alliance Française de Santa Rosa. The French-themed festivities take place on Friday, November 17, from 6:00 to 9:00 pm at Paradise Ridge Winery in Santa Rosa. We will be joined by emcee and special guest--newspaper columnist, radio personality, raconteuse, and founder of the Sonoma Provence Exchange--Michele Anna Jordan.

Beaujolais Nouveau is a fruity French red wine from southern Burgundy, made from grapes harvested just a few months before. By French law, it may be sold only after midnight the third Thursday of November. The Beaujolais Nouveau tradition delights wine lovers the world over, who gather that third weekend of November to toast the harvest with the first wine of the vintage.

French singer Joseph Bain will serenade us at this year?s festive soirée as we enjoy both French Beaujolais Nouveau and Paradise Ridge wines. There will be lots of sumptuous locally crafted French treats both savory and sweet, and Chef Roger Praplan of La Gare restaurant will be dishing up one of his own delectable creations. Local cheese purveyors will be on hand, including Madame de Fromage Colette Hatch who will guide guests through a tasting of French and Sonoma County cheeses.

The setting, Paradise Ridge Winery, boasts ?the most beautiful view in Sonoma County.? The winery is magnificently situated atop Fountaingrove and overlooking estate vineyards and the Russian River Valley wine appellation.

Tickets to the Beaujolais Nouveau Celebration are $25 for Alliance Française members ($30 non-members) in advance (send the attendees? names along with your check by Monday, November 13, to AFSR, 613 Fourth Street, Suite 200, Santa Rosa, CA 95404), or $35 members ($40 non-members) thereafter.
